Primary School Closes After Teachers Struck Down With Illness

Wednesday February 22 2012

A BARNSLEY primary school has announced it will be closing for two days as so many teachers have been struck down with a sickness bug.

Cherrydale Primary School, in Cudworth, sent a text out to all parents today notifying them that the school will be closed on Thursday and Friday due to an illness that has struck down teachers and support staff.

A spokesman for the school said: "It is very unusual circumstanced but we are going to be closed Thursday and Friday.

"We've had quite a lot of staff phone in ill today with what we believe is the noro virus and we have been told they should have 48 hours clear before coming back to work. We don't want to keep spreading the illness around and around the school - we have to look after the children's welfare so that's why we decided to close."
