Pool Bar Owner Set For 24-Hour Charity Challenge

Tuesday February 11 2014

THE owner of a town centre pool bar will take part in a 24-hour charity match this weekend.

George Vetters, 50, who runs Escape Pool Bar on Peel Street, takes on friend Ben Finch from 6pm on Saturday until 6pm on Sunday.

Their efforts are set to give a donation to cancer services at The Prince's Trust. Ben, whose friend has terminal cancer, was the inspiration behind the pair's choice of charity.

"I'm looking forward to it," George said. "It's for a great cause and Ben's a good player but playing for hours on end will be interesting to see how he copes."

George, who has participated in similar events before, is also donating half of Saturday's table takings to the charity.

The pair will be allowed a five-minute comfort break every hour.

He added: "I'll be leaving the doors open throughout the night so people are welcome to come in and offer their support."

The very best of British luck to you both. It sounds easy but believe me. I have very recently done a 12 hour charity pool match and it wasn't easy. I'll come and make a donation.
