Road Warnings As Snow Forecast Hits Barnsley

Thursday February 9 2012

BARNSLEY Council has issued a safety warning after the Met Office revealed Barnsley could be hit by snow and freezing rain today.

A spokesman said: "Barnsley Council asks that road users and pedestrians alike take extra care as the current cold temperatures will mean that if rain or sleet falls, there is a risk of it freezing instantly on our roads and footpaths.

"The council will be out gritting as usual, but if this freezing occurs, wide areas of the borough will be affected beyond the normal gritting routes, meaning extra care will be needed."

* Keep us updated of any trouble on the roads and we will keep updating this post. *

Because they are 'posh' to use your words, every street would have one but because of Barnsleys colourful occupants the chances of leaving a bin full of grit unsupervised would case mayhem through it being simply stolen or used to cause damage to cars and windows.

can vouch that roads are icy,am currently attending,Northern college, and upon leaving late this aft,my car skided twice, while decending on the hill, very scary. Be wary of the sleet turning to ice,we all need to remember you cant see it.drive carefully everyone.
