Wilson Tells Players To Be Proud Of Derby Day Effort

DANNY Wilson has told his players they should be proud of their Hillsborough performance.

The Reds finished the derby with just nine men - and played with 10 for over an hour - following red cards for midfielders Emmanuel Frimpong and Jacob Mellis.

It took a 97th-minute strike from Wednesday's Chris Maguire to break the deadlock and Barnsley's hearts.

Wilson - whose side remain five points away from safety - believes the Reds' fighting spirit on Saturday will serve them well in the coming months.

He said: "You can't ask any more from the players - they've given everything. You don’t often see your own fans staying behind after the game and giving you a standing ovation after a derby defeat.

"We can do better with technical stuff but when you play with your heart on your sleeve, as they have done, that's all you ask from players."

Danny really doesn't have a clue - instead of waving to the Wednesday fans he should have been concentrating on getting the team playing attacking football - not his usual negative dross .. Yoooooooooooooooou reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeds
