Teen Locked Up After Breaching Terms Of Youth Order

Friday December 6 2013

A TEENAGER has been locked up for stealing from his mother and showing 'complete disrespect' to court.

The 16-year-old, from Bolton-upon-Dearne, originally stole a total of £520 from his mother, Barnsley Youth Court was told.

The youngster had shown disrespect to the court by not complying with orders, District Judge John Foster said.

He added: "If you want to have an enjoyable life, you have to put something into it.

"You showed disrespect to your mother by stealing from her and you have shown complete disrespect to the court by not complying with orders.

"You have drifted out of school and you're drifting around in your life."

The teenager admitted failing to keep appointments with the Youth Offending Team.

Jamie Wake, defending, said the youngster was interested in motorbikes and wanted to be a mechanic. The teen stole the money for motorcycle parts and petrol.

Miss Wake said the 16-year-old had acted stupidly and said he had a bad cold.

She added: "He sent a text message to his youth offending team manager and asked her to call him back because he had no credit on his mobile phone. Then he buried his head in the sand."

Stephanie Greening, prosecuting, said the youngster gave 'no acceptable explanations' for missing three appointments.

The teenager admitted breaching the terms of a youth rehabilitation order. He was ordered to undergo four months of training and detention.

He "had a bad cold"

Righto then we'll let the feral little scrote off then...

The excuses made for people who contribute nothing to our society beggars belief.

Stop making excuses, start taking responsibility

remember you cannot chastise your child as all parents have done throughout all history. Smacking the hand of a young toddler that tries to touch the fire worked so everyone did it. It also works for other things and the learning process begins. Now in the UK it gets the parents a jail sentence or worse for smacking their kids when they are naughty.

No wonder kids grow up stupid and think everything is acceptable

Getting a jail sentence is simply not true.. You can reasonably chastise your children and if you believe, as I do that smacking your child is reasonable then you can do that. You can however be arrested and be imprisioned if chastisement becomes assault with violence, and if someone punches and or leaves a lasting mark after hitting their child then a prison sentence is what they deserve.

That said if I caught my son stealing from me I would chop is balls off. This I believe WOULD leave a mark.

Lauren, sorry but I think that when you were naughty 'n got a beatin for it', the perpetrator hit you about the head far too much kiddo.

since when was 16 grown up - this is just a kid and people are calling him all sorts and wanting him battered....if this was a 30 something id agree with some of the comments (though still not the need for violence) but he's not. There are many kids at who make mistakes at this age, its part of growing up. I just hope that the ones wanting him physically punished don't have kids of your own, and if you do I seriously hope they don't ever make a mistake.

Complaining about lack of spelling and grammar...and using internet slang in the same sentence. FAIL.

Reply Posted by TheGuardian on Sunday December 8 2013 at 23:48
This' in no way a defence of the genuine 'kilkenny' but, it's obvious that there's multiple individuals posting in his/her name (plus many others come to think of it!). Some are amusing yes, but some are just clearly unfair and obviously not from him/her.

Kilkenny is a woman and her posts are usually nasty towards Barnsley and more often than not are vulgar. She brings it on herself,no sympathy.

16 is old enough to know right from wrong. 'He made a mistake we all do at that age' I didn't none of my friends or siblings did. Seems to be a certain type of person who pedals that old line. I'm a firm believer in getting a clip when you're naughty as a kid, it never did me any harm and was enough of an incentive to stop and think before I did something and think of the consequences. Too soft on this type. People like this young moron are the reason the future looks bleak. And don't be thinking I'm a 50 year old Daily Mail reader. I'm 22!

after you have all finished squabbling. my opinion is. this country lost the plot when the punishment to kids was banned. children should be smacked. and i say this for the safety of the child. there is a massive difference between smacking a child. and beating a child.. or abusing. there is a hell of a difference. the "do gooders" of the world have spawned a huge problem in society. the world we have today has been requested.i would agree to jail terms for anyone beating and assaulting a child. but to tap, or smack for the well being and safety of a child is something that common sense forgot.

Reply Posted by Amazed on Tuesday December 10 2013 at 12:31
Nail on the head observer, first take away teachers right to discipline then stopping parents having the right to correctly discipline their child . thats why we have a society of youngsters (not all) gone wild .

Reply Posted by gits on Tuesday December 10 2013 at 09:51
if the country had left national service in place, then i think we would have a better kind of teenager, they would be more respectful learn disappline and see the world aswell as learning a trade.
but they stopped it and from then on things have gone down hill very quickly, the nambie pambies of this world started treating them with kid gloves when what they needed was a short sharp shock to bring them back in line
