MP Votes To Abolish 'Tax'

Monday November 18 2013

A BARNSLEY MP has voted to abolish the so-called bedroom tax, saying it's leaving families in Barnsley on the edge of spiralling debt.

Although the motion was defeated by the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, Michael Dugher said people are being left with nowhere to go and met with constituent Karen Fletcher, who had travelled to Parliament to lobby against the bedroom tax.

Widely known as a 'tax', it's actually a cut in housing benefits for those deemed to have a spare bedroom.

Mr Dugher said: "The bedroom tax is leaving families in Barnsley with nowhere to go and on the edge of spiralling debt.

"Meeting with Mrs Fletcher was a real reminder of the true damage that this cruel tax of David Cameron's is having.

There are around 3,000 people in Barnsley affected by the bedroom tax.

It would be brilliant IF everyone got paid the same as David Cameron & co, then people could afford to pay extra, but that's not the case, I wonder what world they live in making the bedroom tax, HOW many bedrooms do they have in their home? not that it really matters, as they have loads of money and a job and good health too. I doubt any of them know what it's really like to live on not much money? You still have to pay your bills that are increasing every week.

its like the old days when it was window tax in 1696 ,, thought we were coming on from them days, but its just the same ,,,people had no food, no work, rich people getting richer , getting the idea

Turn your spare bedroom in to a prayer room. It works for some. No names no pack drill.

This story is hilarious or it would be if it wasn't so tragic!

Labour were defeated?!? This article fails to report that FORTY SEVEN LABOUR MPs failed to show up to vote.

It was nothing more than a publicity stunt.

Labour introduced the 'Bedroom tax' in the first place.

Labour have also just seen ANOTHER MP guilty of falsifying expenses.

Reply Posted by Richard on Monday November 18 2013 at 16:20
The article also falsely reports saying its a cruel tax of David Cameron's. How so? LABOUR introduced this 'tax'.

Labour could have won the vote in parliament last week, had it not been they engineered it to lose the vote.

Take a look at the voting figures people.

Labour had 47 MPs that didn't vote, despite harping on about it.

Ed Miliband harped on about it, yet 47 of his own MPs didn't support him.

What does that tell you?

Tony, read the facts.

At least what I report is true and not masking the facts to steer folk into believing utter nonsense.

Reply Posted by Richard on Monday November 18 2013 at 16:43
Oh dear, the kids have arrived!

Is it false and incorrect to report that 47 Labour MPs didn't vote against the 'Bedroom Tax' when had they voted they could have won by a clear margin?

Is it wrong to report Denis MacShane former MP for Rotherham (quite close to home) has just been found guilty of fiddling expenses to the tune of £13,000 (and that's just what they found)?

Sorry Richard the imposter you think I'm talking nonsense. Try reading some facts.

What's odd about slating liars and poor journalism and praising a greater economy, reduced unemployment etc? Doesn't make me a Tory though ;)

Reply Posted by STEVEO on Monday November 18 2013 at 19:42
Now I know you talk absolute shite!

Never before in the entire history of the British isles have we seen the right to free speech actively removed by one particular party - namely the Tories.

Anonymous protest the other week in Trafalgar square whereby 100,000 people brought the capital to a standstill, absolutely NO coverage by the media in anyway shape or form.
They were "told" by the Tories NOT to cover the protest.
Tory party conference in Manchester earlier in the year, 50,000+ Trade unionists campaigning against the bedroom tax, again absolutely NO coverage and even the Tory loving BBC were warned off filming the protest as the Tories cited "security" issues.

You me pedigree chum get all your ideas straight out of the Sun or Telegraph.

OH I almost forgot the "gagging" bill, which has just been defeated in the house of lords.

And while were on about mp's fiddling expenses did you forget about TORY MP Lord Taylor of Warwick (The first ever Black Tory MP) fiddling £11000 AND still keeping his peerage back in 2011?

Or did that slip your mind?

AND what about Transport Minister Stephen Hammond who used an "offshore" company to buy a property in Portugal thus limiting his uk tax liabilities?

Nadine Dorries who "forgot" to mention to the Parliamentary ombudsman the "fees" she received for appearing on i'm a celebrity?

Nadhim Zahawi who claimed for gas and electric for his second home and blamed his staff?

I would suggest that you walk away and look at yourself in the mirror, if you want to play with the big boys on here then you are going to have to get "street savvy" and fast otherwise I will ridicule you on every "Tory loving" post that you put on here.

@ Steveo Who are you attacking here?

My posts were simply about the FACT Labour harped on about the 'cruel Bedroom Tax' yet when it came to the crunch, FORTY SEVEN Labour MPs decided to not bother voting. That's not from any Sun newspaper or Christmas cracker, it's a FACT. No amount of twisting things will change the fact that Labour are not actually interested in supporting things they harp on about.

PS I'm not a Tory, so when any politician is caught cheating on expenses I don't see it as a personal attack, I support you on outing all the lying cheats. Denis MacShane, you are a disgrace.

Reply Posted by sally on Thursday November 21 2013 at 20:26
why are you so thick to that think the bedroom tax is down to Cameron the media called it bedroom tax to discredit Cameron. Labour introduced the housing benefit allowance based on how many bedrooms you have but if you were a council tenant you were exempt and were entitled to the full amount only private tenants had to male up the shortfall out of their benefit. So now council tenants have to pay the shortfall oh dear boo hoo cut down on the fags and booze and nights and days in the working mans club. get a flaming job or you cut down on your luxuries so you can pay the extra .. not once do you hear private tenants kicking off and why are the MP only bothered now for council tenants they didn't and haven't lobbied for private tenants. get a life and stop whinging just pay up the world doesn't owe you a living

thank you Richard at least Barnsley has 2 sensible living here, I am fed up with listening to all the people seriously thinking that the government is penalising them, they should research the facts I didn't have to because I read more than the beano perhaps if people studied politics before going to the club they would see the sham that labour created then passed to Cameron, but not out for a political debate on here I just wish people could see that we are breeding a nation of dole wallers who can not be bothered to work I do so why should they have bigger houses than me that I am bloody well contributing to I have my own rent to pay, its a joke and its getting worse we will have no drs nurses or lawyers construction industry or scientists soon because the generation growing up don't have a brain cell between them because they have watched their parents claim benefit all their lives they think its the way to go sad and worrying world we are in at the moment

everyone still avoiding the obvious aren't you I still don't hear any private tenants whinging so whats so special about council tenants. answers on the back of a stamp cos you are not specia we have to get into line with private tenants, how unfair is it that for at least the last ten years council tenants got the full housing benefit be grateful you had ten years of being spoilt.I work and I am at retirement age I also live in a council, property and its hard to make end meet for me as well but I recognise that all good things come to an end so quit moaning

Reply Posted by Richard on Friday November 22 2013 at 20:11
