Tough Mudder Group Raise Money For Young Lad

Thursday November 14 2013

THIS group of 'Tough Mudders' have raised over £2,500 for a young boy who has leukaemia.

Jamie Marshall, 27, of Hart Hills, Hemingfield, wanted to do something worthwhile when he heard about seven-year-old Jack Palmer, of Tingle Bridge Lane, Hemingfield, to help his family in their difficult time.

The notorious Tough Mudder event was chosen. Consisting of a brutal, 12-mile obstacle course designed by the Special Forces, they trained hard at Mick Crossland's Combat Academy in Wombwell.

Jamie's 11-strong team, consisting of Shane Palmer (Jack's dad), Ryan Flemming, Justin Illingworth, Craig Hardcastle, Emily Colbourne, Anne-Marie Savage, Michelle Lunn, Christina Corker, Lee Maskin and Mick Crossland put themselves through the challenge in September.

Jamie, who's served in the Army for seven years, said: "Jack's dad is a friend of mine so I wanted to do something worthwhile to help out in whatever way I could.

"The Tough Mudder was as you'd expect: tough, long and packed with extras to make it even more challenging. It's nice to raise money for such a worthwhile cause."

Jamie, who got back from Afghanistan on November 12, is also celebrating as his partner Hayley is due to have their baby!

The group are arranging a date to present the money to Sheffield Children's Hospice where Jack has been receiving his treatment.
