Stagecoach Makes Changes To Service

Friday August 23 2013

Changes made to bus route Changes made to bus route

CHANGES are being made to a Barnsley bus service following feedback from passengers.

After listening to customer requests and meeting with local councillors, Stagecoach is altering the route of its number 26.

The service will serve Illsley Road, Morrison Road, Bly Road, Roundwood Way and Upperwood Road giving local residents a direct link into Wombwell.

Stagecoach had changed the route in July as part of a regular review designed to ensure services are punctual, reliable and convenient.

Rupert Cox, commercial director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: "Customer service is something that we take very seriously at Stagecoach and feedback from passengers is regularly used to shape our networks.

"After taking on board comments from members of the public and discussing the options with local councillors, we’re really pleased to be introducing this route change."

Stagecoach is also making minor changes to routes 217 and 218 in Bolton upon Dearne. The 218 will serve Billingley View and Carr Field Lane, instead of the 217, thereby reverting back to the route operated before July 2013.

The changes will come into effect from Saturday, October 26.

The smaller town link buses used to be used for less busy routes what happened to them ? you cannot rely on public transport anymore .

The smaller buses tend to be used on routes with more frequent services, less busy routes, or routes that are harder to get the larger buses around. 1, 6, 12 & 67 often have the smaller buses on them.

Arrrrrrr, they have to pay - my heart bleeds

They can afford to go to bingo - then I am sure they can pay to get a bus !!

They want to sort the Ardsley bus service out - hit and miss buses, always late, hardly any on an evening, always over crowded, I could go on and on...

Bart time, most of ppl down on these roads are Old ppl, Stagecoach should be ashamed to do it in the first place....

Nothing to do with Stagecoach - the routes are planned by SYPTE
Stagecoach just run the service

Stagecoach run and plan the routes on a commercial basis. Stagecoach decide how often a route runs. But it must make money. When a route cannot make a profit ie at night then the route is funded by the PTE. Which has very little money to run a evening service beyond hourly

Should put 67 bk on Darfield no connection to hoyland common wot so ever. It was very handy as I can visit my mum and the same for my mum to catch bus to Darfield!!!!! But instead the av put stupid 26 bus with a single decker?

Reply Posted by MrSpoon on Thursday August 29 2013 at 23:52
26 can only have a single decker on for two reasons.
1. It goes through Cudworth and there is a low bridge there what deckers cannot fit under.
2. Stagecoach don't have any other deckers other then those what are needed for the 66 service

What about gilroyd and dodworth busses

Reply Posted by david on Thursday August 29 2013 at 20:10
how about u cheapen fares? At this rate a taxi will be cheaper then a bus .like wtf

Reply Posted by Fred on Thursday August 29 2013 at 22:45
Price of fuel & wages have gone up - what do you expect the price of fares to do?

People were happy to support the striking drivers to get them a pay rise - but as soon as fares go up they moan, where do you think the money comes from to pay the increased wages.

Still haven't replaced the busses that used to go down ardsley rd in worsbroughdale.... Only been 8ish years! You have to either walk to kendray or bank end!

Reply Posted by Fozzi on Thursday August 29 2013 at 20:34
They don't even provide a bus service for new road in staincross!! If u live on the George street end u have quite a walk to nearest stop,I'm young enough but elderly folk find it hard

Reply Posted by sue on Thursday August 29 2013 at 20:42
we could do with a bus from thurnscoe goldthorpe and bolton on dearne directly to cortonwood as it would save the hassle of having to get 2 buses there and back

Reply Posted by Fred on Thursday August 29 2013 at 22:47
Complain to Rotherham - Cortonwood is not part of Barnsley

Reply Posted by Jase on Thursday August 29 2013 at 21:30
FFS yet again those of us that live on the other side of the motorway are forgot again the rest of Barnsley need to have a bus service like we have in Penistone/ Millhouse green then you will know what a shit service is like every time they make a change its get worse

Reply Posted by MrSpoon on Thursday August 29 2013 at 23:57
The routes 23, 24, 25, 92 & 301 which are run by Tates are tended by the PTE. The PTE is the one what sorts out the routes and frequency of the service. The 20/21 service run by Stagecoach is a commercial service and therefore needs to make a profit to run.

I’m John Id like to make an enquiry with watersons 193 last bus leaving the Barnsley interchange at 14:00 would it pay to a stagecoach service on between the interchange & the old ship pub at royston & back with the last bus leaving just before 23:00 so people in the new lodge athersley Carlton & royston can get home.
