BDGH is not a trauma unit. The nearest trauma unit it's Northern General or the LGI. The patient would have fallen into this category and the fastest mode of transport is by air . As there are no air fields in Barnsley I very much doubt Helimed would have been in the area. From Leeds Bradford Airport to Barnsley flight time is only minutes

I took my 16 year old daughter to town today and came home before we did any shopping as the ambulance came twice to men who were either drunk or drugged .we went in the bank where another man collapsed and when staff tried to ring for ambulance he was aggressive ,apparently known to staff and another drunk, outside the alambra an young man with no top on was shouting abuse at his girlfriend ,my daughter was so intimidated we came home what a waste of resources on the ambulance and a n e staff and any guests to Barnsley must wonder what town they had come to,no wonder people avoid the town center

Not surprised someone was skittled by a bus, as we we witnessed first hand the mentality that seems to prevail lately. We had been in town shopping for half an hr and had parked in lidl car park so we saw helimed trying to land. As we left to come home and were travelling up racecommon rd, two lads in the late teens/early twenties started crossing the road in front of us, saw us and just carried on sauntering across! No sense of urgency. They just look at you gone out as if you're in the wrong.

Where does it state anywhere in the report that the casualty was a druggie or a drunk? Crikey....you people!! So if any of you are mowed down in a serious accident at some point wer all gunna start ranting about the state of Barnsley and the people in it. Fair enough, your comments are agreeable but this report wasn't about any of that. Respect for the casualty guys n lets hope he pulls through!!

No one will ever seriously invest time or effort into Barnsley town centre until they sort out regeneration, Either do it or don't do it. The worst thing is to remain in a state of uncertainty. No one will invest until a decision is made one way or another. They are killing the town and the market. Why would anyone work to try to establish a business when they don't know what will happen in the future. A joke

Soapbox: the drunk/substance misuse link has come from a comment where a person had witnessed excessively drunken people been taken to a&e via ambulance and wasting resources that could have helped someone who was in a life-threatening situation. the only person who has speculated that the casualty was a drunk/druggie is B, who posted after yourself, I think you ought to read things fully before going on a half informed rant...

Wow some of you people are so judgemental and stereotypical! Have some respect to this manuals accident please! A lot of you are talking about other subjects rather than asking if this man is ok. Disgusted and ashamed of the people of Barnsley to say the least !!!!

Having beenin my car behind the bus when the man got hit I have to say it is completely irrelevant whether he was drunk or a druggie, he was hit by a bus and got quite badly hurt, traffic comes off town end round about at that exit at stupidly high speeds and he stepped out. I have seen plenty of sober and drug free people doing exactly the same. Disgusting attitudes from some people.

I hate to see people crossing busy roads whilst listening to ipod or talk'texting on their mobile phones!!

I was knocked down by a bus at the age of 5years, but thankfully was relatively unscathed, but had a huge bandage on my forehead for what seemed like FOREVER to me as a child.
