Sigh, another complete waste of police time and taxpayer money. It's becoming increasingly clear that the war on drugs, especially the war on cannabis has completely failed. More and more people around the world are starting to see the benefits of legalizing cannabis and the health benefits cannabis can offer to sick and dying people. This coupled with the fact that as a substance, cannabis is pretty much harmless makes it even more frustrating to see these articles again and again, and even more infuriating to see comments like the one from 'Fawkes' above. I ask you, did you have a cup of coffee this morning? A cuppa tea? Maybe you had a cigarette or maybe some paracetamol or asprin. Well let me tell you, every substance I list there is more dangerous to your health than Cannabis. Get off your high horse and educate yourself, calling people 'druggies' and 'trash'. You are a hypocrite.

agree with u on this one, I have a very painful medical condition affecting my bones and joints and a joint on a night time really helps my body to relax, which in turn helps me sleep..... Was great when I was in labour to hahaha I'm sure Fawkes will have something to say about that!!! I don't go on rampages kicking everyones head in nor do I go out stealing to fund my habit. I'm a caring mother whos children come first no matter how much pain I'm in. And the biggest effects it has on me is I get the munches lol

Even more reason to legalize, it would cut out the gangs and street selling and stop it from getting into the hands of kids.

Cannabis is now legalised for medical use. Its called sativex. Pain management consultants also use ketamine, methadone and opiates but the difference is they are chemically modified to limit the 'high'. The problem is they are very expensive and difficult to have prescribed. It also depends on the medical condition as to whether they are effective. I think there are two different issues here. Those with a genuine need for pain relief and those who dont. In the majority of cases its the high people crave and not any form of pain relief. Personally its a shame the latter dont live just one day in chronuc pain and see just how bad some peoples lives are compared to theirs

It might be ok for people when used sensibly and in moderation. But the fact remains that the majority of cannabis users are smoking it for the simple reason of getting high. I know quite a few people who have since moved on to stronger drugs or smoked themselves stupid. It's illegal for a reason, if it was as simple as some of you say and benefits outweighed the problems, the government would legalise it an stick tax and duty on it. Break the law and pay the price. simple!!

From a non smoking economist point of view. By stopping these plants getting to market its reducing the supply in the system but the demand will always stay the same or steady increase in line with increasing population. Therefore the equilibrium price will increase. All that does it make it more and more profitable to gangs so more gangs move in the area. The buyers (smokers) will have to "committ more crimes" then before to pay for the same ammount. Recomenadtion legalise get rid of the weed growing gangs. Tax it to sort out the the huge debt our country is in. The smokers can be more honest and open when legal and easier to seek help to cut down.

you can buy the seeds to grow them anywhere legaly + 20%vat.
You can buy all the tools of the trade legaly anywhere +20%vat .
You can buy all the heating and lighting to grow drugs anywhere + 20% vat.
Where does all the v a t go to.
You get caught growing.
You get fined.
You get caught selling
you get fined
you get caught smoking.
You get fined.
Where do all the fines go.
And then they say columbia is bad for drug money.

How many people wake up on a morning
and feel a bit off it. and then the doctors get there claws into you. you are now fixed into the drugs cabinet of the world.
How many of you have more than 3 types of drugs in your cabinet .
Read the label by the time you have read all the 60 side effects ranging from headache to death you will still carry on taking them.then by the time you have. got that far. they will be strapping your arm up like a kipper and putting you on blood pressure tablets that will make you feel worse or they will tell you your type 2 diabetic . but they have got you hooked.
Everybody is a druggy spin it anyway you want
