Police appeal Police appeal

POLICE are appealing for information after a child was left with serious injuries following a road traffic collision in Barnsley.

At 7pm on July 11, police received reports that a red Vauxhall Corsa was travelling along Barnsley Road in Darfield, when it's thought to have overtaken a silver parked car.

Officers believe that as the Vauxhall Corsa passed the parked car, it collided with a 10-year-old boy from Barnsley who was crossing the road on his bicycle.

He suffered serious injuries including a fractured leg, a head injury and grazing to his chest. He is currently being treated at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The driver did not sustain any injuries.

Police would like to speak with the owner of the silver parked car, which was believed to be parked on Barnsley Road at the time of the incident, as the owner of this vehicle may be able to assist officers with their enquiries.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information that could assist officers to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1090 of July 11, 2013.

Sam if you read it properly the driver of the red corsa which knocked the boy down stayed at the incident the police are looking for the driver of the silver corsa which was parked up on the other side of the road which the young boy came from behind and the driver who is in bits was not speeding .

I stopped with the boy until the ambulance came he was so brave the owner of the corsa was at the scene and he didn't abscond what I can't get my head round is the bus what couldn't get through because we had blocked the road with our cars actually moved the lads bike to carry on with his 'job' unbelievable in my eyes .speedy recovery for you little man

Hope the young lad makes a speedy recovery. What makes me laugh is someone always blames the driver. If it was his fault and he'd had left the scene it would have read police are appealing for witnesses in a hit and run. Hope the driver is not too traumatised cause I wouldn't like to go through what he is

They want witnesses so they can confirm what actually happened and who's fault it was... you can't just say it was the drivers fault

What is happened to the Barnsley Area, the number of RTA'S over the last few weeks if heartbreaking !!!......... to my calculation this include's 5 Fatalities
Can Everyone please remember , drivers and pedestrians that Roads can be very busy, especially people going too and from work........ the community seem to have so very little road sense at the moment,........... Lets hope the little boy makes a full recovery, and so the Driver of the Car

Are people really bothered about cars and arguing. People should be more bothered about the little lad that's been in the accident. It could've been a lot worse. Some of you should care more about others

Some of you need to get your facts straight before jumping to the 'idiot driver' conclusion. I know who it was and please have spoke to him and told him it wasn't his fault as there was no way he could see the boy as he was reversing and the boy was directly behind the car. So how about you get your facts right before assuming you just know everything, idiots.

Sorry he was over taking a parked car.
