AN 11-year-old boy was hit by a car near Kirk Balk School on June 26.

Police were called to West Street, Hoyland, at 3.06pm and closed the road. 

The youngster was hit by a silver Vauxhall Astra and police and ambulances attended. The boy suffered a head injury and a suspected pelvic injury.

More details will be released shortly.

I was there when it happened, bless him... He is ok I think? I heard he has nothing broken, only fractured things :////////

No excuse for kids getting knocked down near a school. 10 mph max near a school should be enforced at start and end of school day and on-the-spot fines for the lazy parents who carelessly abandon their cars. All avoidable, . Hope the kid is fine

It was our son that was injured. Glad to say he has no breaks or major injuries. Just very sore and bruised. Thanks for everyone's support.
