ALMOST 50 students sitting an A level exam at the Metrodome had to be evacuated part way through after a fire alarm was set off deliberately.

Pupils from Barnsley College were disturbed ten minutes from the end of the paper at the Queens Road leisure complex on Wednesday.

The 47 candidates were provided with the appropriate amount of additional time after order was restored, but the college plans to write to the exam board to request special consideration.

A spokesman for Barnsley Premier Leisure, which runs the Metrodome, said: "There was a fire alarm but nothing we could do about it because it was pressed. It was done by somebody messing about."

More disruption? Enough is enough. The Metrodome clearly isn't fit for purpose. Get you act together Barnsley College and come up with a better alternative. Your students deserve better.

Actually Roy, it's not. The last one was about Horizon, not this. So no, you're completely wrong.

The barnsley college disruption story and this one are one and the same story, you're just flogging it They both happened within the same day I know because I was in the exam with the fire alarm.

Erm, no, they're not the same story! Completely different! Someone complaining about noise made by workmen and a fire alarm are two vastly differing things.
