Council Approve Cash Injection

Friday June 7 2013

£500,000 to be spent in next three years £500,000 to be spent in next three years

HALF a million pounds will be spent in the town over the next three years to improve the borough.

The cash has been allocated as part of Commissioner Shaun Wright's budget and was accepted by Barnsley Council.

The £500,000 means two more officers will be recruited to the anti-social behaviour response team, employed by the local authority.

The funding will also see the recruitment of a victim and witness support officer to the council, and an anti-social behaviour family lead officer will join the police.

About £17,400 will be used to support a drugs intervention project until next April, co-ordinated by the council's drug and alcohol action team.

It was also revealed that £94,598 will be allocated from a community safety fund to employ a partnership inspector for the police, and a community safety intelligence officer for the council.

Could add another 300,000+ just by getting rid of the crime commissioner and his assistant
