Former police officer walks free Former police officer walks free

A FORMER police officer was paid more than £6,500 in disability living allowance - whilst working as a driver and coffin bearer for a Barnsley funeral director.

Michael Clarke, 55, of Hemsworth, walked free from Wakefield Magistrates' Court on Wednesday after he was handed a six-month conditional discharge.

Clarke admitted failing to notify the DWP of a change in circumstances.

A DWP inquiry revealed Clarke had worked for A and M Hadfield funeral directors in Burton Road since April 2010.

He had been medically discharged from the police force after suffering a stroke in 2004 whilst working as a traffic officer.

This wasn't some poor uneducated person who didn't know any better. This was an educated person on a good pension who knew what he was doing.!! I just hope he was suitably fined and has been forced to pay all the money back. Greedy pig springs to mind.!!

and is it any wonder people call the umemployed with a former serving police officer committing BENEFIT FRAUD to line his own pockets not a person who hasnt been educated comes from a broken home etc a former serving officer who should know the law better than those less educated its absolutely disgusting and disgraceful this man hasnt recieved a custodial sentence and also been made to pay the money he cheated from the state back and the cost of bringing this to court if it was joe blogs no doubt a custodial would have been handed out as a deterant its people like him that are the cause of true disabled being driven to suicide by the government and their cuts its people like this man that should be made an example of for all to see !!!

You dont have to be educated to any great degree to be a policeman .
You just have to know how to speak klingon. cos nobody knows what there talking about.....
Use a rammer to break peoples doors in
speed to the chip shop.
And he didnt have to tell the d w p.
Because he ...had the rights to remain silent
