A ROYSTON shop which has been empty for almost eight years has been given a new lease of life by a local couple.

Ryan Garrett and Natalie Brown spent more than three months restoring the old computer shop on Midland Road and transforming it into the Moonique Boutique, which sells hand-crafted leather bags and clothing.

Ryan said: "Every day we would drive past it and go 'that would make a nice shop.' One day, we just thought we would give it a try.

"We had been selling the bags in a hairdressers and we just saw this shop and decided to go for it. It was derelict, nobody had took it on for about eight years and we had to completely strip it.

"We haven't done it on a big budget so it's taken us a long time to do but we've had a lot of praise from local people saying it is nice to see the shop open again and I think it gives people a bit of inspiration to have a go themselves."
