CREATIVE kids have had enough of motorists speeding past their school - and have put pen to paper in an attempt to stop it.

Pupils at Thurgoland Primary School designed posters, in collaboration with local police, to persuade drivers to slow down on Halifax Road.

The winning designs, created by class two pupil Lucy Armitage, six, and class three's Lily Rae, eight, will be made into banners and displayed on railings at the front of the school.

PCSO Anthony Holmes, said: "We continually receive complaints of speeding and are always looking to educate motorists on the dangers of it."

Both winners were presented with £25 gift vouchers, donated by Thorpe's garage - a business which has campaigned for speed reductions in Thurgoland.
