Woman Dragged By Car In Terrifying Daylight Ordeal

Police appeal Police appeal

A WOMAN was grabbed by a car driver and dragged along a road last Saturday afternoon.

She had been walking in Mexborough along Oak Road towards the traffic lights at the junction with Wath Road when a man in a black car which was queuing at the lights pulled her towards the window of the car, police said.

The driver of the hatchback then started to drive off while still holding on to the 32-year-old woman.

She was dragged 30-40 yards along Wath Road when he let go and she fell in to the road, suffering bruising and grazing to her body.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested, but police are appealing for information regarding the incident which happened at about 3.15pm.

“This was a busy junction on a Saturday afternoon, so I would have thought someone in the area at the time would have seen something," said PC Julie Fretwell.

“Fortunately the woman was not seriously injured, but this incident could have been much worse. This incident doesn't appear to be a random act.”

Anyone who saw the incident or has information should call 101 quoting incident number 786 of 13 April.
