MP Dan Jarvis will be joining thousands of runners on the 26.2 mile course through the streets of London this Sunday - and he is raising money for Cancer Research UK.

With just a few days until his London Marathon attempt, Dan is urging people to show their support for Cancer Research UK and the essential work they do in combating cancer.

Dan, whose first wife died from bowel cancer in 2010, said: “I know firsthand the devastation which cancer causes amongst families. It can affect all of us, no matter how young or what our circumstances are.“

The Barnsley Central MP added: “I would like to ask people to consider making a donation to Cancer Research UK by sponsoring me.

"By making a donation you will be supporting life-saving research, bringing forward the day when all cancers are cured. In the 1960s, only around a quarter of children with cancer survived. Today, three-quarters survive. This progress is a testament to the work of Cancer Research UK.”

Other examples of the charity’s recent work include helping to develop the drug abiraterone, now licensed in Europe for treating advanced prostate cancer.

Hi Dan. Hope the marathon went well for you. Sorry to hear about your 1st wife. My nan died from bowel cancer which led to spreading. I'm doing race for life this year with my 8 year old daughter.
