Last Separate Junior and Infant School To Go

Wednesday October 19 2011

THE LAST two schools in Barnsley which have seperate junior and infant facilities are to be joined into one if government approve the plans.

Barnsley Council says that Wilthorpe Infants School and Wilthorpe Junior School should no longer be run as two separate schools and should instead merge to become Wilthorpe Primary.

The capacity of the new school - which would cater for those aged 3 to 11 - would be 420 and would take 60 children in every admission intake. It is planned that the existing buildings will be utilised for the new school.

If the Secretary of State approves the plans, the new school would open in September 2012.

My 3 children have gone to this and will be going to when the little one reach's nursery . it will be a sad day if it happens I love the way the the little ones have there space to grow in and be allowed to be infants. And then when they attend the junior school they are then allowed to mature into young confident children to then go onto secondary school . I will be very sad to see them merge. But I will attend the meeting's to see how this is to be proposed.
