Plastic Bottle Recycling Scheme Rolled Out

Barnsley Council has announced an expansion of its kerbside plastic bottle recycling service across the borough.
The roll-out will be from September and homes not included in the scheme will then be added to the 60,000 households already getting it.

Barnsley Council said on our Facebook page: "We can confirm that plastic recycling will be rolled out across the rest of the borough in September. People being added to the scheme will receive information and notification about the scheme from mid-to-late August."

Areas currently receiving the kerbside plastic bottles recycling service are Barugh, Brierley, Cudworth, Darton, Grimethorpe, Kexborough, Mapplewell, Shafton and Staincross, Athersley North and South, Birdwell, Blacker Hill, Carlton, Cawthorne, Crow Edge, Cubley, Dodworth, Gawber, Gilroyd, Elsecar, Higham, Hemingfield, Honeywell, Hoyland, Hoyland Common, Hoylandswaine, Ingbirchworth, Jump, Kendray, Millhouse Green, Monk Bretton, New Lodge, Oxspring, Penistone, Pilley, Platts Common, Pogmoor, Redbrook, Royston, Silkstone, Silkstone Common, Smithies, Tankersley, Thurgoland, Thurlstone, Ward Green, Wilthorpe, Wombwell, Worsbrough Bridge, Worsbrough Common, Worsbrough Village/Dale.

The recycling service accepts plastic bottles used to contain: milk, pop, water, bleach, detergent, shampoo, fabric conditioner, sun tan lotion. It will not accept juice cartons, yoghurt pots, plastic food packaging, any other plastic items.
