MORE than 64 tonnes of household and garden waste has been removed in Thurnscoe following a neighbourhood clean-up day.

Merrill Road, Burnside, St. Peters Gates and Challenger Crescent were targeted in the clean up, organised by the South East Area Partnership Team.

Residents were invited to get rid of any household waste and garden rubbish using the skips provided. The clean-up day was funded by the Dearne North ward councillors through the Community Support Fund.

Coun Jennifer Worton, on behalf of Dearne North ward councillors, said; “I’m really pleased we were able to fund this project and am amazed by the amount of rubbish cleared. Everyone involved did a fantastic job, thanks all of you for your hard work.”

The South East Area Partnership Team will be revisiting the areas later on in the year to see if the improvements have been maintained.
