Thousands Of Potholes Reported

Monday March 18 2013

Thousands of potholes have been reported. Where are the biggest ones? Thousands of potholes have been reported. Where are the biggest ones?

MORE than 5,300 potholes have been reported across the borough in the last six months.

The alarming figures from an AA poll found Yorkshire's roads to be some of the worst in the country.

Cllr Roy Miller, who confirmed that 5,364 were reported, said that while Barnsley roads are suffering from the damaging winter, officers must prioritise the repairs despite government cuts.

So WABers, where are the biggest ones in Barnsley? Tell us, and we'll go out and investigate.

Aldham House Lane Wombwell. Not individually the biggest, but so many bad repairs on top of other bad repairs, plus speed humps too. Driving down hill rattles your fillings.

I agree that Aldam House Lane is bad for lots of potholes. I'm having to take my car in for repairs to the suspension and I'm sure it's due to the number of potholes on our roads!

Should be more like every road in the borough has 5364 potholes more like.

I saw a council van with 2 men on the back and a third driving slowly down the road.
One man jumped off and the other threw a blob of tarmac into a pothole. The man on the road then stomped on it and they moved on. What a brill repair.

Pretty standard. Where is the hit-tec machine they bought last year that was supposed to do good quality repairs twice as fast? I have never seen it. Probably the union don't like them to use it as it may put someone out of a job.

Yes that it probably part of it and the rest is down to lack of supervision and an idle workforce, cutting corners so that they can sit about reading the paper on long lunches instead.......

I spent £700 on a new 07 plate gilera runner 5 days ago. Went out on it in athersley south yesterday. Hit a pot hole and cut all my knees an arms open. Got bruises everywhere, whiplash. Can't even walk up the stairs properly. All because of a pothole. I'm 16 years old.

Doesn't look nice Jarad, It would be better if you tell the Council about that then they know how much very concerning it is.

Some of the pedestrian causeways are just as bad. The stretch between AJ Simms shoe shop and the Halifax Bank on Eldon Street is an absolute disgrace, its uneven with many loose paving slabs, ideal place to fall down and get a claim in ??
