A GRIMETHORPE school has been praised by the deputy Prime Minister for its work with disadvantaged children.

Nick Clegg wrote a letter to Milefield Primary and congratulated staff on the improvements made to the results of pupils eligible for pupil premium, which is additional funding given to schools to support disadvantaged pupils.

The letter says Milefield is among the top performing schools when it comes to boosting performance.

Headteacher Paula Murray said the school was really pleased to receive the letter from Mr Clegg.

"This is an outstanding achievement. I'm extremely proud of the team at Milefield for their commitment to the children and families the school serves, and I am delighted to be part of it."

Let's hope none of them ever want to go to University, because they will never be able to afford it. Thanks Mr Clegg for your U-Turn on tuition fees.

Great for the kids but can anyone take this joke of a guy seriously....Clegg and all other politicians should ask themselves why there are any disadvantaged pupils in the 1st place!
