A ROYSTON father completed the Bath Half Marathon in the first of a series of running events to raise money for the charity that helped his son.

Steve Roberts ran the 13.1 mile street race in aid of the Stickler Syndrome support group on Sunday.

Steve's five-year-old son Harvey was born with the condition, which affects his sight, hearing and joints.

As Steve crossed the finish line, he was greeted by Harvey.

"The marathon staff were great and allowed Harvey to come through the finishing area with me," he said.

"They even put the medal around his neck instead of mine - I'm not sure I will ever get it back now as he his telling everyone it's his medal."

The race was the first in a number of fundraising events Steve will take part in this year for the charity - including running the London Marathon next month.
