Police Warn Drink Drivers Of Zero Tolerance

Thursday February 21 2013

SOUTH Yorkshire Police's Shaun Wright has issued a scathing attack on drink drivers.

It follows the announcement of the Spring 2013 Drink Drive Campaign.

Approximately ten per cent of motor collisions and 14% of fatalities are a result of drink drivers - with those under 25 said to be more likely to offend.

“The fact that these people risk not only their own lives, but the lives of others by getting behind the wheel after drinking, is the height of social irresponsibility,'' said Commissioner Wright.

“South Yorkshire Police will be targeting areas with a known record of drink driving,'' he added. ''We won’t tolerate drink drivers on the road.”

Seriously hope you are just trying and failing to be funny mad bitch. Drink driving should be taken seriously. Too many people get hurt with idiots behind the wheel who are drunk. We should just put the legal limit down to zero.

I hope when you do have the inevitable accident you are the only victim. hopefully you'll be caught before you ruin someone elses life!

It doesn't matter what the drink drive limit is, some people have no regard for the safety of themselves and even less thought for others, they think they're safe to drive when drunk, and many continue to drive after being caught and banned, the scum of this country continue to breed and drink drive, take drugs, sponge off the state, bring kids into the world for the money they can get for having them, not for the love they can give them, they then grow up resentful and as disrespectful as their parents, we should do intelligence, aptitude and humanitarian tests on teens and sterilise the idiots, inept, selfish and inconsiderate and maybe future genrations will be spared the scum working people have to work hard to pay for!

Perhaps some folk are serious because they arent morons and they dont find your so called jokes funny? Hopefully non of your family will be killed or maimed by a drunk driver.
PS Sometimes humour is the lowest form of wit.

This should stop, no drink if you are carrying car keys ! Also pubs should not have car parks ......... What's all that about !!!!!

Reply Posted by Hoyland Red on Sunday February 24 2013 at 18:36
Seriously Mary? What about if I want to go say to Dodworth Valley for a bite to eat - where should I park? A pub having a car park is not the reason why some people drink and drive - they do it because they're selfish and think they will not get caught. More police on the streets required or at least more targeting like the point of this story. Funnily enough if the statement of under 25 drivers being more likely to offend is correct then this coincides with the reduction in the numbers of the Traffic Police from South Yorkshire Police. You reap what you sow.

Drink driving campaigns are an easy and effective way for the police to make it look like their doing something usefull. They can commit thousand of police hours to catching half a dozen drivers then get back to the police station for a few months filling out forms and munching on kebabs.???

i thnk mad bitches coments were a bit tongue in cheek. wheres everyones senso of humour gone??..mary elliot. pubs need c ar parks. ppl sometimes like to travel when out for a meal. we dont all sit in the house staring at the same four walls and but beer from the offie??..rainbow made a very good point. the motorist..(yet again) are an easy target for the police. there should be some sense in this. allow 2 pints. to be allowed to drive. this can be controlled. zero tolerance is an act of the usa. we are now controlled by the usa. and deploy usa tactics....just to throw my three pennyworth in to the fray. what about drug users. cannabis users?..heroin users?..are these people in control of a ton of metal when driving???..i think not.
