SY Police Offers Funding To Community Organisations

Tuesday February 19 2013

SOUTH Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner has launched the first round of funding for his 2013 Commissioner Grant Scheme.

Shaun Wright said the scheme provides funds for community projects that tackle policing priorities.

Non-profit voluntary and community organisations throughout South Yorkshire are being encouraged to apply for a grant from £10,000 up to £50,000 to help towards their projects.

Later funding rounds scheduled to open in April and again in the autumn will support smaller projects awarding from £1 to £10,000.

In order to be considered, the projects must target either to protect people from crime, to reduce anti-social behaviour, prevent re-offending, or ensuring victims and witnesses receive post-case help.

Commissioner Wright, said: “I know what vital services voluntary groups provide in our communities while relying on support from the public. These groups often suffer most in these harsh economic times and I want to help them continue their valuable work. I am investing to fund projects in our communities that make a real difference”

More gimicks to make it look as though the police are doing something usefull. Try getting on the beat instead of sitting on your arses all day or riding up and down in cars. If criminals thought there was a chance of being seen by a bobby we wouldn't have half the crime we have now.

@ rainbow pray tell how coppers riding around solves crime eh??? Seriously?
@janine ya cant get fingerprints from things left out in the garden overnight coz the morning dew lifts them off. Thats why the police dont come out coz unless you have seen the offender or got them on good cctv what can they do????Waht do you want miracles?
Think before ya post.

The whole idea of Police and Crime Commissioners is ludicrous and the fact that candidates are allowed to present themselves with political affiliations is even more so. How the police are supposed to be there to uphold law and order; How the hell can they do that with some politically obliged amateur pulling the strings?

Grim-reaper is correct, coppers riding around in cars will not solve crimes, but if they got out of their warm comfortable cars and had a walk around some of these problem area's they just may disturb some of these villains that janine is complaining off.??? But no I'm afraid the police are too concerned with their own welfare rather than that of others less fortunate than themselves. So we'll just have to put up with what we have.
