TWO Barnsley sisters have stripped off for a charity calender to raise money for Cancer Research UK and raise awareness of breast cancer.

Twins Angie Dodds and Jamie Whittaker, from local band Top Gun, feature on the Rock Of The North calender, with their modesty covered only by musical instruments.

The calendar is being sold through the Rock of The North website - run by local music promoter Steve Lally. Steve has helped raise over £24,000 so far for Cancer Research and helped others raise cash for Barnsley Hospice after recovering from bladder cancer himself.

He said: "It's been really great to get the girls support, someone from their family died of breast cancer so it was something they are keen to support. They aren't show-offs and they disrobed bravely.
"I have had bladder cancer and without Cancer Research I would have been dead."

The calendars are £5 and all money will go direct to Cancer Research. To buy one go to www.rockofthenorth.com.

I'm very flattered that you think I raised £40,000 for Barnsley Hospice! I didn't, but I helped out at some concerts that Brian Featherstone organised to support the Hospice because I think it's a great cause.

Not the most informed of poses for a calendar donating money to Cancer Research... breast cancer in women is linked with alcohol intake.  Drinking alcohol can also increase your risk of mouth cancer, pharyngeal
cancer (upper throat), oesophageal cancer (food pipe), laryngeal cancer
(voice box), bowel cancer and liver cancer.  Every year
alcohol causes about 6% of cancer deaths in the UK, killing over 9,000
people.

That picture isn't in the calendar Jack. The calendar shots are more subtle and the sisters posed for this because they lost their own mother to breast cancer. The JD bottle is just a prop, part of the theme of the competition that runs through the months to win a guitar. Annually, Cancer Research UK put £123.4 millions into research that underpins advances in all cancers, but they also have an extra budget for different cancers, the biggest goes to breast cancer research and that budget is £44.8 millions annually.Bowel cancer gets an extra £25.2 millions annually. The others you mention are digestive tract types of cancer and they are targeted by a further £39.5 millions annually.
By posing for this calendar, these ladies help to finance that research.

Jack Daniels, just cos you googled some facts about cancer doesn't make you right. They're raising money for a fantastic cause who cares what the pics are. What are you doing for charity? Leave them alone!!
