Grade I Church Awarded £112,000 Grant

Tuesday February 5 2013

GRADE I listed Church of All Saints in Wath has had its future secured after being awarded £112,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

It's been a good few weeks for the town for funding - just last week we reported about the Grimethorpe Colliery Band who also had its future secured.

The grant will be used for structural repairs to the 13th century nave roof including coverings and new timber decking and gutter linings, as well as graffiti removal.

The money's coming from the Repair Grants for Places of Worship scheme, which is funded by the HLF.

Fiona Spiers, Head of HLF Yorkshire and Humber, said: “Historic places of worship form prominent and much-loved landmarks in our villages, towns and cities across Yorkshire. They're unique buildings that bring local communities together for a variety of reasons from worship through to culture and leisure.”
