A MAN from Barnsley has been arrested after a shocking hit and run incident before Christmas that  left a man in serious condition.

The incident - which happened on Racecommon Road - prompted police to launch a Barnsley-wide appeal when the driver that struck the 50-year-old pedestrian fled the scene without stopping.

It is thought that there was two cars travelling together when the incident happened - and it later emerged that one of the cars involved had been reported stolen.

A spokesman for the police said: "In terms of the injured pedestrian from the collision there is
an improvement in his condition.

"A man from Barnsley has been arrested for several offences in connection with this investigation and has been released on bail whilst enquiries are continuing."

Anyone who has any information should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting incident number 941 of 12/12/12.

my guess is he faces driving offences
he left him for dead should be abh gbh
its time the sentence fitted the crime if you get behind the wheel and drive in this manner face the reality of what they cause
the guilty should suffer more than the victim they chose to do what they did the victim didnt
its time politicians made changes in the law (long overdue)
if they spent time doing this instead of cooking the books maybe we would be more inclined to vote

Neils a fighter but his catalogue of injuries are horrific and I think people should lobby their mps on behalf of neil to see justice done. This person who attempted to murder neil will do this again and to stop another family suffering like this he needs sending away for a very long time

Reading this message touched my heart. I live close to the area where your uncle neil was injured and was shocked by what happened. I hope your uncle neil recovers and there is a good outcome for him and your family.
