Man Jailed After Fake Speeding Fine Claim

A MAN has been sentenced to five months in prison after paying someone to take his speeding points by advertising on Facebook.

Scott Woodburn, 32, of Hill Crest Road, Rotherham, was caught speeding on Halifax Road in Penistone in 2011.

But he published a post on Facebook asking someone to take the points in return for payment - he paid £250 to a Sheffield man who admitted to the offence on his behalf.

But South Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership's Enquiry Team led an investigation - presenting forensic evidence which finally led to a guilty plea.

He was sentenced to five month in prison and disqualified from driving.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership said: “Woodburn showed no regard for anyone else. He was prepared to drive at excessive speed, once caught rather than changing the manner of his driving he selfishly paid to have someone else to take the blame so that he could continue behaving as before.“

The man who admitted the offence was given an 11-week custodial sentence suspended for 12 months.

the police really do anything for money what's the point in sitting there and looking for speeders or going around carparks looking for people without tax disks what a waste of time solve some real crimes there's plenty of murders and rapists out there make yourself useful

Carl and AA I think your both missing the point of this article he got caught speeding and then got caught passing his his points off to someone else in this case I don't feel his sentence was enough.

Carl and AA you are both obvious Police haters and probably speeders.

The Police are not bent or crooked nor do they personally make money from speeders. We prosecute speeders in this country because they kill people every year and are basically morons for doing it. Traffic crime AA should be a priority as it most likely kills and maims more people every year than other criminals. Plus the Police do not just do traffic they also deal with murderers and rapists. Which is more than self absorbed, car mad, police hating eejits like yourselves will ever do.
