POLICE have made a fresh appeal for information in a shocking hit and run case as it emerged one of the cars involved was stolen.

A 50-year-old pedestrian was hit by one of the cars at around 7.20pm on December 12 on Racecommon Road.

Witnesses report the cars were travelling together but fled the scene after the man was hit - he is still in hospital in critical condition.

Police now say one of the cars is described as a silver Ford Mondeo, registration C19 GJM, that has been reported stolen.

Police believe this vehicle may be parked or abandoned in the Barnsley area.

Anyone who has any information should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting incident number 941 of 12/12/12.

Hope they catch the selfish person who did this.!!! Could u imagine if that was your dad...
My wife was the person who found the poor man and did all she could till the ambulance came. People were just driving round them and not stopping.
What sort of a world as it become!!!
Just hope he survives no one deserves this at this time of year.

The driver needs to man up and accept what he has done....!!!

How on earth could people just drive by them when they could see that your wife was looking after the man. Shameful. I would have also done all I could to help...

always stop and offer assistance even if its only doing traffic duties and only drive by if it is well covered with helpers.

I hope this guy recovers, and these losers are shopped and caught.

Sadly, I've seen people drive past accidents myself. In one example of mine, down near the Asda, I slammed my brakes on when a kid ran out across the road in front of me. I jumped out of the car to check he was okay, and all people behind me did was try to drive round my car, sound their horns for five to ten seconds, and in the case of two particular drivers (both male), I had the pleasure of being told to shift my car because I was both a "stupid effing bitch" and an "effing "c"" word. Out of all those cars - and there were dozens of them, not one single car stopped to see if that young lad was okay, or how shaken up I was or how frightened and upset my own kids were in the back of my car. Sadly, that seems to be what happens in Barnsley - that most people don't care about other people any more.

I am one of this man's nieces, and I just wanted to say thankyou to Richards wife. He is still in a critical condition but if it wasn't for this wonderful person he could be dead. let's just hope they find out who did this to him and hope they get what's coming to them.
