Thousands Of Homes Lose Power In Cut

Thousands of homes across Barnsley lost power as a major power cut hit the Goldthorpe area.

More than 2,750 homes in the S63 area - which covers Doncaster Road, Barnsley Road, Goldthorpe Road in the Dearne - lost power at 9.30am on December 12 due to a major fault.

Northern Power Grid managed to restore power to some all of the homes by 11am.

We've been informed by a number of parents at 10.30am that Dearne Carrfield Primary School are sending children home. We are awaiting official confirmation on this from the council.

We've been informed at 10.46am that Dearne ALC are sending their children home due to the power cut. We are awaiting official confirmation on this from the council. 

11.24am - Dearne Goldthorpe Primary stayed open and announced no plans to send students home.

10.47am - We've been told that Goldthorpe's Primary Care facility has lost power.

Must have just been the goldthorpe area of barnsley road as im at the highgate end and we didnt have any power cuts. Lucky us then.
