'The busy road that runs through Barnsley' Which journalistic college did you go to? They are all busy, maybe if you had been commenting on the M1, now that's a busy road running through Barnsley. To be honest I cannot make head nor tail of your very short and uninformative report. The PC World gyratory is quite complex so I would give up on trying to describe this traffic incident.

Haha Stuart, I was just thinking the same thing 'The busy road' description is as clear as mud! Please WAB if you are going to make such statements at least do it in such a way as we know what your talking about.

The story is fully explained in the second paragraph "Old Mill Lane is closed with slow traffic Southbound at the Harborough Hill Road junction because of an accident."
I don't know how much clearer we can be than that...?

ha ha ha In Barnsley we only have "the busy road" "the quiet road" and "the other road"

Someof the writing done by wab and the chronicle is pretty shambolic these days, it seems being able to write an informative, well written factually correct piece is no longer a requirement for the post of "Journalist" (and I use this term very loosely. ) these days. Wonder if this line will make the ferret...

We put many hours in to keeping people informed, and lots of those hours are voluntary. The piece is factually correct. The second par fully explains the link. I doubt it would make the heady Ferret Column but to be honest what makes me more despondent is the sheer snideness of some people commenting on here. We try to provide information to help people out - and what we get in return is sly comments and criticism. Not a nice thing to have to deal with I can assure you!

WAB its called freedom of speech

Nicky, you have just copied and or pasted traffic reports from another source. No problem with that, but yours readers need to have specific information. Without relating to a compass, exactly which way is southbound at the Harborough Hill Road junction? You are just being lazy. Why not describe in words that Barnsley folk can relate to? Old Mill Lane downhill past ASDA, Harbrough Hill Road uphill from PC World, or around the back of PC World towards Old Mill Lane. Sorry but its not good enough just sitting there taking in reports, and copying them out without getting out there and describing the situation correctly. Whether you do it voluntary or otherwise....at least take constructive critisism on the chin and not immediately 'keyboard' back

Get a grip people! WAB is here to help! Haven't you got something more important to be doing???

ye they have, picking holes in everything else that is wrong with the world lol x
ome people do nothing but moan just to make themselves feel better......If WAB posts are written so badly ornot to their liking i would suggest using their time finding an alternative source of information instead of nit picking on here! I understood it, its not rocket science..............

Well I was happy to receive the report wherever it was written or copy n pasted. Well done WAB, thanks (from at least one grateful reader).

I agree totally with the above comments some people need to get a life!!! I too was happy to read this report it saved me going into town adding further to traffic congestion. Another point to consider is the fact that someone could have been seriously hurt in this accident. Thanks again WAB (from another grateful reader).

I was returning from lunch with my friend when we saw the incident - I thought it best to get it on the website fast and share it to avoid people getting stuck like we were - and so I did a quick, informative story from my mobile phone. Yes it isn't going to win a Pulitzer - but it gave people the crucial information they needed to know. I'm still struggling to see how that's wrong? Of course you are entitled to your opinion...just like we are entitled to disagree! :-)

Vicky, I live the life in Lanzarote, and have nothing important to be doing at the moment apart from enjoying the sun and keeping in touch with the views of 'Tarn' folkl. Jo I was being constructive and I have access to better information than WAB (no apology for being smug) Charles, glad you are happy about a road closure. Jules I have a life (see above) and I am also happy that you did not have to go into town. I support WAB and that is why I keep in touch with their postings...I was only trying to be helpful and honest.

Stuart, honest maybe helpful no we understood exactly where the incident took place and we don't really need negative comments posted on this site thanks.

Stuart - I will take the comments as they were obviously intended, as a constructive criticism to help us improve. We aren't perfect - we don't claim to be and it's always interesting to hear feedback from people. We will be sure to take your comments on board.
We are an information portal which (we believe) helps our community.
I totally agree that you are not likely to find a Pulitzer winning feature written on We Are Barnsley that took weeks to research and develop - that's not what we are about and we believe there are many newspapers out there that do that kind of story/investigative journalism well.
But when it comes to providing accurate information and instantly informing our community, I believe that's where we win and I don't think anyone else does it better than we do :-)
We use social media and new media to its best advantage and often inform our community of events within minutes of it happening - yes it won't be every infinite detail, but it will be enough information to hopefully be helpful, reported in a responsible manner.
Thanks for your input and enjoy the sun ! Hopefully our response helps you guys understand the ethos of WAB

Nicky, point taken. Thank you. I am supportive of you and your 'mission statements'. Maybe I might have appeared a tad aggressive in my comments, sorry but that's me. Carry on with the good work, but I shall be watching you lol

Thank the lord I no longer live in Barnsley. What narrow minded people with little else to do than pick holes in things. Its actually like watching Jeremy Kyle lol

Every time I see people writing mean comments aimed at WAB staff I think 'I can't believe they've put that'. But it's happening more often. I can believe how rude some people think it's OK to be. Is it just on Facebook or are they like thst up everyone they interact with? So rude!

It's about time some speed cameras were installed on Old Mill Lane. It's almost impossible to cross . People drive up and it like lunatics. There has already been one death . Speed cameras are needed.
