Church Targeted By Vandals

Wednesday November 21 2012

VANDALS have targeted a town centre church causing over £1,000 worth of damage.

Windows at the Barnsley Spiritualist Church on Pitt Street have been smashed five times in six weeks.

Church Vice President Brian Mellor said: "We've had five windows smashed all together and they're quite large windows with big panes of glass. There just doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it and it's costing us a lot of money.

"We had a window replaced and it was smashed immediately the next day.

"It's very upsetting and it's been a nuisance really, though it could be a lot worse. You just can't understand the mentality of some people."

im sorry but if the youth of today grow up seeing adults having no respect for each other then how can we expect them to show respect for anything. i have seen some of the nastiest hurtfull comments ever on wab, most kids learn from their parents and after seeing the attitude of some so called adults on here im not suprised how some of the kids of this generation are turning out. and before people jump in yes it is disgracefull what these kids have done and shouldnt go unpunished but im sorry the old saying monkey sees monkey does springs to mind

Barnsley Lass - If it is all like you say 'Monkey see, Monkey do' then surely there must of been a reason that the parents behave the way they do? How far back in time do you suggest we go back to find the route of this problem?
I just believe kids these days have little to no respect for people or their community. This could be down to there parents acting inappropriately, or the opposite and them repelling against there parents.

Saying that, University applications are increasing yearly, so that must mean that some youths aren't being a load of yobs, its just they are the only people that get mentioned.

Basically, all im saying is you cant just blame everything on the parents, its the kids fault. And before you say anything, i am a 21 year old university student.
