Wombwell Assault Victim Latest

THE VICTIM of a serious assault in Wombwell is said to be recovering in hospital after he was found on Thursday morning.

Police have released a statement today (Friday, September 23) saying the man injured is improving in hospital. A spokesman added: "His condition is now classed as serious rather than life-threatening."

A local man has been arrested in connection with the alleged assault which occured on Wombwell High Street.

The road was closed as detectives working on the investigation gathered evidence.

The victim - a Wombwell man in his early 40s - sustained head injuries from the assault and is recovering at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield.

Anyone with information about the incident should call South Yorkshire Police on 0114 2202020 quoting incident number 34 of Wednesday, 21 September.

Must be more to it than just a head injury - they wouldn't use a tent and collect forensic evidence it it was simply a fight and someone hit their head, otherwise there would be tents up in every city & town around the UK on a Friday/Saturday night .......... perhaps they are pursuing an attempted murder charge as looks like weapons may have been involved

I must say I wondered what all the palarva was about. Wombwell isn't exactly green belt leafy suburbia; there's a violent incident every day of the week, so what's different this time?
