Aim To Form Group To Protect Wombwell Brick Ponds

Monday November 12 2012

A GROUP is being formed to protect and improve the Park Hill Brick Ponds at Wombwell.

Voluntary Action Barnsley is coordinating an appeal with local residents to form a group of volunteers to help protect, maintain and enhance the wildlife haven.

A spokesman said: "We want people to come forward and form a group that will look after the Brick Pends and promote it as a great place to visit, walk your dog, bird watch and relax.

"We need everyone to get involved with the ponds. Whether you want to maintain the site, be a committee member, promote and market the site or have a really good idea about what the site could be used for."

The first meeting will be on Saturday (November 17) between 10am and 2pm at the ponds.

I fish down there occasionally , nice idea but it would be a shame if there was too much of a clean up... its one of few untouched fishing venues in the area..
