A CAKE-loving Barnsley mum has set up Barnsley's first 'bake and banter' group - set to be a modern day version of the WI.

Nina Ramskill, 31, ran Cupcake Cottage until she had her son Eric and has organised the monthly meetings where everyone brings a home-made favourite to share and donates money to charity.

She said: "It's like a modern day version of the WI. You bring your cake and bring your recipe and tips to share with everybody.

"My generation like to bake cakes too, it's just a younger take on it and something a bit different.

"It can be cake, a cupcake, pie, whatever you want as long as you've baked it. Everyone goes away with a box of different cake at the end."

12 people have signed up for the first Bake and Banter meeting which will take place at Not Just Coffee, Doncaster Road, on Wednesday at 6.15pm.
