Fun Day To Mark New Sports Centre Opening

Friday October 26 2012

A FUN day will be held to mark the opening of the new sports centre at a former pub in Honeywell.

The Fleets pub was bought by Barnsley College, and more than £100,000 community cash was poured into it, after conditions stipulated it must include community sports changing rooms.

A range of activities including multi-sports sessions, face painting, arts and crafts, zumba and a bouncy castle have been planned for the opening on October 27.

Barnsley College Principal, Colin, Booth, said: “Our fun day is a great way for residents to come along and see the facilities available for them to use. There will be lots of free activities taking place.”

The Friends of the Fleets group has been set up and consists of residents, councillors and representatives from Barnsley College and aims to improve the local area and promote the Fleets community facilities.

A ribbon cutting ceremony to open the changing rooms will take place before the fun day, which runs from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

No booking or tickets required.
