EIGHT students from Barnsley College have gained a place on the South Yorkshire football squad.
The lads represented Barnsley at an under 18s school trial and half of the male football team from the College’s Football Academy were picked to represent their county.
Sports Development Officer Leigh Mackie said: “All the performances were excellent and highlighted the strength in depth of our squad, a testament to their hard work, desire to succeed and the quality of the Sports Academy programme at the College. Everyone acquitted themselves well and did Barnsley and the College proud.”
The eight boys, who are aged between 16 and 17, will play in both the College’s Football Academy and South Yorkshire team alongside their studies.
