Police Appeal After Car Hits Lampposts

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a car crashed into two lampposts near Dodworth early this morning (Thursday Sept 15).

The red Vauxhall Corsa was travelling along Keresforth Road from Barnsley into Dodworth at around 1am when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with the lampposts.

The driver, a 29-year-old Sheffield man, was arrested for being over the prescribed limit. His passenger, a 25-year-old Thurlstone man, sustained minor injuries including cuts to his left arm and face. He was taken to Barnsley District General Hospital but not detained.

Officers wish to hear from anyone who witnessed the manner of driving prior to the collision. Anyone with information should contact South Yorkshire Police on 0114 2202020 quoting incident number 28 of Thursday, 15 September.
