Pedestrian Struck By First Responder Ambulance Car

A PEDESTRIAN has been left with serious injuries after being struck by a first responder ambulance car.

The accident happened last Sunday (September 30) at around 1.25am on Westway.

The green and yellow Skoda Octavia was travelling towards Harborough Hill Road when the 30-year-old is thought to have stepped into its path.

The man, from Didsbury, Manchester, was taken to Barnsley District General Hospital and sustained serious injuries.

The 49-year-old woman from Rotherham driving the Octavia was not reported to have been hurt.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to call 101 quoting incident number 121 of 30 September 2012.

Westway in the early hours after a Saturday night is a place to take extra care even away from the two crossing areas as some people choose to climb the railings
