NEW figures that have been released today show local people rushed to get fit after being inspired by the Olympics.
Barnsley Premier Leisure - which runs gyms across Barnsley - reported a massive 50 per cent increase in the number of people who had taken up swimming, which amounted to 50,062 swimmers attending in the Summer 2012.
