Wheel Clampers Target Workers Cars

WHEEL CLAMPERS have been out in force this morning, clamping people who are parking on residential streets to avoid parking charges.

Many town centre workers have started parking behind the new build flats on Sackville Street - not realising that it is a private permit parking area.

Resident Louise Harper posted a warning this morning after she watched six cars being clamped at 9am.

She said: "It's a private permit parking area, the whole of the area even the entrance to it.

"Even council workers who work at Gateway Plaza have been clamped. I see them drop there cars off and walk to work."

Many workers will now have to pay a fee to get their cars unclamped.

its against the law to clamp cars there a new law that come in they carnt clamp

The ban on clamping on private property comes in on 1st October. Councils & DVLA etc will still be able to clamp on public roads.

they have to make money some how they have nowt beta to do aslong as no1 is blocking anyones drives and things whats the problem ????

Thing is they park on either side of the small entrance to the car park, which doesnt help when trying to turn around or get out of the carpark.
Its council land but a private firm run it, they come out and clamp anyone who doenst have permit. Its supposed to be changing to a fine only with no clamping not not sure when thats going to happen.

thay shud av permit parking on kier street because i can never park out side my house from 8am till 530 pm because off plp that work at gateway plaza
