Supermarket Conversion Plan For Gawber Pub

Friday September 14 2012

A PUB in Gawber is to be converted into three self contained flats and a supermarket.

The Friendship, on Redbrook Road, will be reveloped by Gavin Cen on the first floor into three flats.

Meanwhile, a supermarket chain - believed to be Sainsbury's - will be converting the lower floor.

Living just around the corner from the Redbrook/Friendship, i had many a good night in there. Such a shame no big pub chain took it over and took it back to the glory years. Unfortunately a lot of pubs are going this way now.

As par comment from Phil Harvey. Excellent times there and such a shame it is all to go. Very sad, but we have good memories! Up the lads!

Yet another pub lost to developers with more in the pipeline. But when you have pub companies with huge debts, high beer taxes, poor planning policy and supermarkets selling cut price booze what future is there left. not happy with destroying pub trade in this country the supermarkets are now taking over the pubs they have ruined as they already have licences to sell alchohol. A shame indeed. The nearby Wilthorpe will soon be a Tesco so the sainsburys link fits
