Bus Stop Could Be Scrapped After Recommendation
Thursday September 6 2012
A STAINBOROUGH bus stop looks likely to be scrapped after assessors recommended it be removed.
The stop, on Gilroyd Lane, serves passengers travelling away from Barnsley town centre.
It came under threat after South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive looked at stops in South Yorkshire which did not have the required facilities, including safe places to wait.
The stop is on a grass verge and is used by service numbers 23, 23A, 24 and 410, which run from Barnsley to Thurgoland, Stocksbridge and Penistone.
Posters were put up on the stop asking for objections before July 23 but none were made.
A final decision will be made on Tuesday September 18.
