Cyclist Injured After Car Passenger Pushed Him Off Bike

Thursday September 6 2012

A CYCLIST was seriously injured when a passenger reached out of a passing car and pushed him off his bike.

Dave Scargill, 58, of Albany Close, Wombwell, was riding at about 30 miles per hour on Bilham Lane in Hooton Pagnall near Thurnscoe last Thursday when a black Vauxhall Corsa pulled up beside him.

The passenger leaned out of the window and shoved Dave from his bike.

He is still in Barnsley Hospital after suffering a broken collarbone, two broken ribs and a collapsed lung.

Dave runs a business as a gas fitter and is now worried that he won't be able to work for a while.

He is an experienced cyclist and is a member of the Birdwell Wheelers and the League of Veteran Racing Cyclists.

He regularly competes in races across the country.

Anyone with information should contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 973 of August 23.

i wonder if he had just run a red light while the car waited at lights
last time a cyclist did this as i was waiting i asked him if hes was color blind
and i got told to **** off felt like knocking him off as well
just seems that as soon as some people get on a bicycle they forget that highway code still applies to them as well as cars. still they shouldnt have done this but im betting theres more to this story than been reported here

Even if there is more to this story Brian, nothing can make it ok for you to push someone off a bike at 30mph. I drive and i'll admit i sometimes get pi**ed off with cyclists but would never resort to this sort of behavior.
