Firefighters Come To Dodworth Mum's Rescue

Friday August 31 2012

FIRE-FIGHTERS have come to the rescue of a Dodworth mum by stripping off for a charity calendar she is putting together.

Crew members from the Barnsley and Cudworth stations bared their naked chests in uniform for mum Trisha Binney, of Queen's Drive.

Fire-fighters Iain McDonald, Stephen Osborne, Phil Brookes and Carl Fothergill agreed to do it after learning Trisha wants to raise more than £3,000 for the charities which supported her son during his battle with cancer.

The lads stepped in when her plans for the calendar, in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, were almost dashed after footballer models cancelled days before the photo shoot.

She made a desperate plea to a friend's husband, who is a fire-fighter, and the four fireman agreed to step in front of the camera and save the project.

Trisha said: "They were absolutely fantastic agreeing to help us out at the last minute. We've had all the photos done and they look great.

"They were absolute lifesavers and I would have been very stuck without them, and the women were over the moon about it."

Trisha now needs the help of local businesses to cover £1,000 printing costs for 500 copies of the calendar.

She has raised £300 towards it so far.

Trisha is fund-raising after her son Daniel, 17, was diagnosed with cancer in August last year.

He has since undergone successful treatment at Sheffield's Weston Park Hospital and is now in remission.
