A WINDOW cleaner died after falling off his ladder and hitting his head, a jury at his inquest found.

Keith Harrison, 72, of Mount Street, Ardsley, had been washing windows at a house on Verona Drive, Darfield, when the accident happened.

He was taken to Barnsley Hospital and transferred to Sheffield's Hallamshire but died three days later on January 26.

Keith, who had lived on the same street since he was a boy, had given up working at Houghton Main pit when a friend died in an accident.

He worked in the council's refuse department and started cleaning windows in the afternoons. He had been doing rounds for 40 years.

The inquest recorded a verdict of: accident.

..and what a genuinely lovely bloke he was too.He did my mum's windows for years.Would have done anything for anybody for nothing in return and that is hard to come by. I keep expecting to see him up ladders on her street. Very sad loss.

72 years old, poor fella should have his feet up and chilling out retired. Not many people realise how dangerous window cleaning can be.
