Witness Appeal After Car Accident Closes Road

POLICE are appealing for witness to a road accident yesterday that saw a road closed for over three hours.
The crash, on the A616 at Tankersley, happened at around 3.15pm on Tuesday when a HGV skip loader collided with a silver VW Golf.
The Golf then smashed into the back of a Citroen Berlingo van, pushing it off the carriageway and down a grass bank.
The Golf then collided with two other vehicles, a Mercedes van and an Audi Q5.
A spokesman said: "The driver of the Golf became trapped in his car for about an hour before fire officers cut him free.
"The driver of the VW, a 55-year-old man, was conveyed to hospital with a broken arm, two other men sustained minor injuries."
Anyone with information is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 742 of the 21 August 2012.
